School Bus AideDATTCO is a third-generation, family-owned passenger transportation company that serves 30 school districts throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island. Our 2,500 employees transport over 140,000 students to and from school every year!We are hiring a School Bus Aide at our location in Pawtucket, RI!Hourly Rate: $19/HRHours: Split shift, part time guaranteed 20 hours per week – AM + PM pick up and drop off students.Why DATTCO?Job stability and longevity.401k with company match.Career growth opportunities - we promote from within under all DATTCO company brands (DeVivo Companies, Motor Coach, School Bus)Employee Referral Program.Who you might be:Veteran seeking PT work.Stay at home parents.Seeking additional hours during the week.Previous work experience in a classroom or working with students.Semi-retired and looking for consistency with less hours.Community minded individual looking to get involved locally.Responsibilities:At every stop, you will exit the bus and assist with street crossings for all students.Assist students entering and exiting the bus.Check under and behind tires before entering back onto the bus.Assist students with any other accommodation included in the students' transportation plan.Maintain a reasonable level of good behavior by the children on the bus, minivan, van or car.Effectively enforce school bus safety rules by making sure students remain in their seats, do not harm themselves or other students, do not eat on the bus or violate other safety regulations.Recognize dangerous situations that would affect the safety of the children and report to the bus driver immediately.After the end of each school run, assist the driver in performing a spot inspection to make sure all children are off the bus.Assist in the buckling of children, or other safety equipment, as outlined by safety laws.Assist in the evacuation of children off the vehicle during emergency situations.Assist the driver with directions as defined by a pre-determined route sheet.Requirements:Must be at least 21 years old.Must successfully complete all required pre-employment screening, including state and national criminal background checks, registry checks, drug testing, and any other screenings required by law, Rhode Island DMV, school district policy, or DATTCO policy.Physical Demands:Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.Ability to enter and exit the vehicle repeatedly and perform required vehicle inspections.Ability to bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs, and use vehicle safety equipment.Ability to assist passengers during boarding, exiting, and emergency evacuations.The physical requirements described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
